Yoga has become a big gym and fitness business. Originally we were the only Yoga School in Rishikesh, India, the World Capital of Yoga. In the past 10 years, we’ve witnessed countless ‘Pop-Up’ yoga schools meet the growing demand for yoga class in India.
But I’m jumping ahead:
There have been ashrams in Rishikesh for centuries but they were closed to most people, especially foreigners. We changed that when we opened our doors for yoga classes in India.
Yup, its been total a transformation since we opened our Yogpeeth Ashram in Rishikesh. So what’s the point?
Work out yoga has become a billion dollar industry and it is good that people are practicing. But it can be even more beneficial when it is not just the physical but also the inner (consciousness) development. There is more to it than power exercise, fitness and bikram hot yoga workouts.
